Football

 

2005

Marcus Anderson (Pasadena City College)

As a Freshmen, Marcus was named  2nd Team, All Conference Wide Receiver for the Mission Football Conference, American Division.  Marcus had 44 receptions for 366 yards and 3 TDs.  He returned 4 punts for 44 yards and had 8 kickoff returns for 255 yards.  His longest kickoff return was for 86 yards.  Marcus also blocked 2 kicks.

 

As a sophomore, wide receiver/returner Marcus Anderson was named All-American Second Team at the all-purpose position after leading the Mission Conference in punt and kick returning average. Anderson ran back a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the same game. He also had back-to-back 40 reception seasons for PCC, an achievement only made by teammate Reed in school history.

Anderson, a business major, also earned honorable mention on the 2007 JC Grid-Wire Academic All-American team despite having the team's highest GPA. The company has a rule that prohibits a player from making the scholar team if that player also was chosen to the athletic performance first, second, or third teams.

 

Marcus Anderson also was the recipient of the John Hardy Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award.

 

2005

Martin Egwuagu (University of Texas)  After spending one year at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas, Martin has walked on to the University of Texas football team as a Defensive Back.

2005

Juston Hargrove was a member of Texas State's scout team in 2006.  The coaching staff saw last season he had the potential to be a good defensive tackle ... has the right body frame ... has very good strength ... needs to continue to work on technique ... Hargrove transferred to Texas State from Sam Houston State. While at Sam Houston State he received an Award of Excellence (2005) for outstanding academic achievement.

LBJ High School: Two-time, First-Team All-District 26-4A selection at LBJ High School in Austin ... made the varsity squad as a sophomore ... LBJ captured co-district title sophomore year ... was an academic all-district selection as a sophomore ... went on to be a team captain senior season ... two-time Who's Who in Sports recipient ... named LBJ team's Most Valuable Player as a senior ... high school coach was David Seaborn ... was also a two-time District 26-4A shot put champion and after placing second in the discus as a junior won the event at the district meet his senior year ... captained track team as a junior and senior and was also a two-year member of LBJ's powerlifting team, placing second at district championship junior year ... received the Martin Luther King, Jr., Legacy Scholarship award for most athletic senior male student at LBJ.

He is a business management major at Texas State.

Soccer

LBJ 2005

Melanie Saegert (University of Northern Alabama)  

 

University of North Alabama freshman goalkeeper Melanie Saegert of Austin, Texas has been selected for the 2005 All-Gulf South Conference women's soccer team. Saegert, who logged 1,583 minutes in goal for the Lions in 19 games this season, was a second-team All-GSC pick in her initial season of college competition.

Saegert made 98 saves for a .742 save percentage, while allowing 34 goals. A graduate of LBJ Liberal Arts and Science Academy, Saegert was a steady performer in goal for UNA all season and helped the Lions to an 8-11 record that included five shutouts.

LBJ 2003

Trey Buck (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology)

 

Buck transferred to Rose-Hulman from Ohio State University.  The Engineers play in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference where Buck was named 1st Team All Conference and Co- Newcomer of the Year.

 

Buck established a school record with a 1.17 goals against average and allowed just 21 goals in 18 starts for the Engineers. He recorded a school record 11 victories, three shutouts, 72 saves and a .774 save percentage in net. Buck recorded a season-high seven saves on three occasions, including a 4-2 win at Wabash in September.
